Payroll
Also known as: wages run · pay run
Definition
The recurring (usually monthly) process of calculating gross pay, deductions, taxes and social contributions for every employee and disbursing the resulting net amounts. In Europe payroll is regulated separately in each country and runs in country-specific software.
Why it matters for HRIS ↔ payroll sync
Payroll is the moment HRIS master data — addresses, IBANs, tax classes, working time, absences — collapses into a single legally binding figure. Any drift between the HRIS view of an employee and the payroll system shows up here, usually after the cut-off date when corrections are painful. Bidirectional sync makes payroll the deterministic output of one source of truth instead of two diverging spreadsheets.
