Reconciliation
Also known as: data reconciliation · recon
Definition
The act of comparing two views of the same data set and resolving any differences. In HR-payroll, reconciliation is usually a monthly check that the headcount, gross sums and deductions in payroll match what the HRIS expected.
Why it matters for HRIS ↔ payroll sync
Manual reconciliation is the silent tax most HR teams pay: someone exports a CSV from the HRIS, someone exports another from payroll, the two get diffed in Excel before the run is approved. It is fixable. A bidirectional sync with a diff preview surfaces the same delta in seconds, blocks the run when a change was not approved, and writes the result to an audit log instead of an email thread.
